DeCotiis,
FitzPatrick, Cole & Wisler, LLP is fortunate
to have among its attorneys numerous former high-level
government officials. Two of the Firm's Managing Partners,
M. Robert DeCotiis and Michael R. Cole, served as
Chief Counsel to Governors of New Jersey. The Firm's
roster also includes a former special U.S. Ambassador
to the United Nations (Alfred C. DeCotiis), a former
County Executive (William P. Schuber) and other attorneys
who have previously served in high-ranking positions
in state and local government. William Harla worked
in two Governor's Offices and was also in charge of
regulatory matters for the Attorney General.
The Firm's complement of former public officials possesses
a level of knowledge of the workings of government
that few Firms can approach, and that has led to a thriving, effective government-related regulatory and lobbying practice.
Our wealth of experience gives us a unique know-how
in representing and advancing the interests of our
clients in legislative and administrative arenas.
The Firm's Trenton office, located just one block
from the State House and centrally located to the
State's key administrative agencies, places the Firm
in close proximity to the Governor's Office, the State
Legislature and key State government decision makers.
The
Firm has assisted many governmental clients and private
entities on issues before the State Legislature. Our
attorneys have drafted many laws, including
drafting the legislation merging the New Jersey Turnpike
and the Garden State Parkway. Our attorneys possess
substantial experience in addressing regulatory issues
before State departments, including Law and Public
Safety and its Professional Boards, Environmental
Protection, Treasury, Transportation, Insurance and
Banking, and Community Affairs. The Firm has sought
and achieved legislative, rulemaking, regulatory and
permitting changes and informal agency actions needed
by many clients, from large corporations to charitable
organizations to public interest groups.
DeCotiis,
FitzPatrick, Cole & Wisler, LLP also has
extensive experience and background in the fields
of lobbying and government relations. These fields
have evolved in recent years to specialties requiring
hands-on experience and detailed knowledge of governmental
structures and processes. The Firm's attorneys are
accustomed to working with, and are well recognized
by, government agencies at all levels - municipal,
county, State and Federal - and their expertise has
made the often arduous process of interacting with
public bodies a simpler and more successful experience
for the Firm's clients.
