Ms. Shotmeyer's practice crosses several disciplines and includes work in the areas of civil litigation, insurance defense, environmental law, renewable energy, community development and affordable housing.
As a member of the firm's Insurance Defense Group, her practice revolves around defending public entity clients, including municipalities and housing authorities, in Title 59 liability matters. She is also involved with the regulation, operation and management of various joint insurance funds formed by local government units in New Jersey.
As a member of the Litigation Group, she has extensive experience in complex employment and civil rights litigation. These matters involve defending public entities in lawsuits involving the federal and State Civil Rights Act, the Conscientious Employee Protection Act and the Law Against Discrimination.
Ms. Shotmeyer also has significant experience with federal and State laws and regulations, including the Department of Housing and Urban Development's HOME and Community Development Block Grants Programs and New Jersey's COAH laws. She was instrumental in securing necessary State, county and local funding and approvals in connection with a 36-unit affordable housing project in Red Bank.
She is a member of the firm's innovative Green Practice Group that structured a first-of-its-kind county-wide renewable energy program being implemented throughout New Jersey. This program has assisted public and private clients with the procurement, financing and installation of over 30 mega-watts of solar projects across New Jersey. Ms. Shotmeyer is well-versed in the 2012 Solar Act, and she has experience with defending public entities in New Jersey Spill Compensation and Control Act matters.
Ms. Shotmeyer received a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Science and Science/Technical Writing from Lehigh University in 2005, where she graduated with Highest Honors. While at Lehigh, she was awarded membership into the Phi Beta Kappa Society. Ms. Shotmeyer received her Juris Doctor from Seton Hall Law School in 2010. While attending law school, she interned for the Honorable Claire Cecchi of the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey in Newark. She recently received a Certificate in Biblical Studies from Moody Bible Institute (Chicago, Illinois) through the institution's continuing distance education program.
Ms. Shotmeyer is a current member of the Christian Health Care Center (CHCC) Foundation Board of Trustees. She is a proud New Jersey native and a lifetime Bergen County resident. In her free time, she is an avid enthusiast of the outdoors, a competitive runner, and a speaker at her undergraduate alma mater.
