Ms. Attwood’s practice concentrates primarily on complex civil litigation on behalf of both public and private sector clients, with special emphasis on public entity defense, as well as employment and commercial litigation. She has extensive experience representing the State of New Jersey, the New Jersey Turnpike Authority, a number of County Prosecutor’s Offices and municipalities in personal injury, civil rights and employment actions. Ms. Attwood also serves as the Public Defender for the Borough of Emerson. She has also represented a number of private clients with respect to bar admissions.
Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Attwood spent five years with the New Jersey Attorney General's Office, where she defended the state in tort, contractual and employment litigation matters and tried several civil jury matters involving the Tort Claims Act, the Federal Employer's Liability Act and antidiscrimination law. As co-counsel, she assisted in the successful prosecution of a Municipal Court Judge in a trial before a specially appointed three-judge panel, and co-authored the appellate brief in this case in which the Supreme Court of New Jersey ultimately upheld the Judge's removal.
Ms. Attwood received her B.S. from Fordham University, graduating magna cum laude in 1990. She received her J.D. from Widener University School of Law in 1994, graduating cum laude. At Widener, she was a recipient of American Jurisprudence Awards in Administrative Law, Insurance and Torts. She was also a member of the Honor Chapter of the Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity.
