Jerrold B. Binney joined DeCotiis in 1999 as a partner in the firm's Teaneck office. He is a member of the Government and Regulatory Affairs practice group.

Mr. Binney specializes in lobbying and public contracts. Mr. Binney currently represents government entities including the Union County Improvement Authority and private corporations including Meadowlands Development Corporation. Mr. Binney has extensive experience in government.  He has represented national development firms in the negotiation and formation of development agreements, permitting, licensing and project labor agreements.  He specializes in public/private projects and transactions.  Mr. Binney also has a sub-specialty in transportation matters, particularly as to permitting and access issues.  

Mr. Binney has an extensive record of public service. His career in government began in 1979 as a legislative aide to Congressman William F. Clinger.  He worked for the New Jersey State Legislature from 1982 through 1988 and as a staff member of the Assembly Majority Office. He served as Chief of Staff for the Bergen County Executive from 1990 through 1999, and as Acting County Administrator in 1995-1996.  He is also a registered governmental agent in the State of New Jersey.
 
Mr. Binney received his B.A. with honors in Political Science from Pennsylvania State University in 1978, and his J.D. from Duquesne University School of Law in 1981. He also studied at the Program for Senior Executives in State and Local Government at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University in 1991.  He has been a resident of New Jersey for almost thirty years, and is active in numerous nonprofits, including serving as a Trustee for the Northern New Jersey Gilda's Club Inc. He is currently a member of the Board of Trustees for the Bergen County Children's Aid and Family Services and also serves as pro bono counsel to the New Jersey 2-1-1 Partnership.
