Steven C. Mannion

Steven Mannion is a partner in the firm’s Teaneck office. He joined the firm in 2000, became a partner in 2001, and is a member of the Litigation and Labor and Employment practice groups.

Over the past 15 years, Mr. Mannion has represented private and public entities and their managerial personnel against complaints involving claims for wrongful discharge, discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.   Mr. Mannion has also defended public entities and officials against tort and misconduct claims.   His cases frequently involve interpretation of state and Federal civil rights laws and constitutional claims.

Mr. Mannion regularly appears in state and Federal courts, both at the trial and appellate levels, and he has substantial jury trial experience.  He also has significant experience mediating and arbitrating civil disputes, as well as handling matters before administrative agencies.  His counseling work includes providing employment and labor advice to management, designing appropriate workplace policies and training managers and other employees in anti-harassment policies.

In addition to his legal career, Mr. Mannion also has had an extensive and varied military career, both in active duty and in the reserves. His service includes:

Mr. Mannion received his B.A. from Gettysburg College in 1990 and his law degree from Seton Hall University Law School in 1993, where he was on the Moot Court Board and was Survey Editor of the Seton Hall University Law Review. At the Law Review, Mr. Mannion authored a survey and a note:  Survey, Tax Refund Intercept Program Does Not Mandate Payment of Interest on Intercepted Funds and Such Interest With-Holding Does Not Constitute A Taking Nor Violate Due Process, 22 SETON HALL L. REV. 1564 (1992); Note, Significant Basis Required to Support Business Justification Defense to Disparate Impact of Residency Requirement and Prima Facie Case Properly Determined By Statistical Reference to Relevant Labor Market, 23 SETON HALL L. REV. 323 (1992). Following law school, Mr. Mannion clerked for Judge James H. Coleman, Jr., of the New Jersey Superior Court, Appellate Division, and has been a member of the New Jersey State Bar Advisory Committee on Professional Ethics since 2003, and is currently Chairman.  He also served as Essex County Counsel from 2001-2002 and South Orange Parking Authority General Counsel from 2002-2008. He is a member of the Federal Bar Association, the Garden State Bar Association and the Essex County Bar Association. Mr. Mannion is a New Jersey native and lifetime resident.
