Biography

Anthony F. LaBue is Of Counsel at DeCotiis. He joined the firm in 2000 and is the head of the Healthcare Practice Group.

Prior to entering the private practice of law, he served as a Deputy Attorney General for the State of New Jersey representing the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners and other healthcare and professional licensing boards. Mr. LaBue was the Section Chief supervising Deputy Attorneys General representing all the licensing boards.

Mr. LaBue represents St. George's University School of Medicine, an international medical school, in New Jersey. As a result of Mr. LaBue's expertise in the legal field of medical education, St. George received approval from the State of New Jersey to establish clinical clerkship programs for its third and fourth year medical students at New Jersey teaching hospitals. St. George's is affiliated with seventeen teaching hospitals throughout New Jersey and is an alternatively accredited medical school in New Jersey. Mr. LaBue represented the medical staffs at Mountainside, Bayonne and Irvington General Hospitals.

In the private practice of Health Care law, Mr. LaBue provides legal service to physicians and other health care professions seeking initial licensure from the New Jersey Medical Board, and also provides representation of physicians at Medical Board investigations, hearings, administrative trials and appellate level matters.

Mr. LaBue represents physicians and other medical professionals in various matters including hospital privileges, health insurance company investigations including Medicare and Medicaid, as well as other regulatory and educational issues. Mr. LaBue provides advice to physicians about medical practice issues, the formation of medical practices, and provides representation during partnership formation, disputes and dissolutions, as well as advice and representation of any regulated individual or business.

Mr. LaBue frequently works with attorneys in the White Collar Criminal Law section of the firm who also defend healthcare professionals facing criminal charges that will impact their licensure status in New Jersey. Public documents pertaining to past representation are available on request.

Mr. LaBue served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1968. In 1971, he received both his B.S. in Accounting from St. Peter's College and his J.D. from Rutgers Law School in Newark, New Jersey. Mr. LaBue is a native of the State of New Jersey and has resided here his entire life.
