Roy Caplinger has been named Contract Partner, which will take effect on October 1, 2018, based on his considerable expertise and acumen in a variety of litigation matters. Mr. Caplinger’s practice specializes in insurance, commercial, healthcare and construction litigation, as well as appellate practice, among other areas of practice.
Before joining DeCotiis in 2017, Mr. Caplinger represented insurers in several prominent securities litigations, including a major insurer in the In Re IPO Laddering Litigation, which became one of the largest securities lawsuits in American history. His practice also included representing major insurers in public entity related matters, including a series of civil rights lawsuits brought against the State of Oklahoma and its employees. Some of Mr. Caplinger’s more high-profile cases included a racial profiling claim that was successfully settled, and a wrongful imprisonment claim based on DNA evidence, where the case was litigated in connection with the Innocence Project and its well-known attorneys, Johnnie Cochran and Barry Scheck.
