Prior to joining DeCotiis, Ms. Thomas participated in the specialized review of major litigation cases involving various matters, such as contract disputes and corporate and securities litigation. Ms. Thomas has also served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Mark S. Ali, J.S.C., in the Essex Vicinage of the Superior Court of New Jersey, in the Chancery Law Division and Criminal Division. While there, she had the opportunity to enhance her legal research, writing and analytical skills, interact with state and private attorneys, and attend trials and hearings relating to criminal, civil and family matters in the trial and appellate divisions.
At DeCotiis, Ms. Thomas focuses her practice on labor and employment law and government/ public entity law, where she represents governmental entities and private businesses in state and federal actions and arbitration proceedings and provides counsel to public entities for employee misconduct and adverse employment actions.
Ms. Thomas received her J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law in 2016. During law school, she participated in several clinics and internships, and worked as a law clerk on foreclosure matters, bankruptcy litigation and housing violations. Her most rewarding experience during law school involved her clinical experience as a Student Attorney through Seton Hall's Juvenile Justice Clinic, where she represented juvenile clients in detention hearings. Ms. Thomas also participated in study abroad programs, where she studied International Business Law, European Legal History and Comparative Law, and International Human Rights. She received her B.S. in Accounting from the Pennsylvania State University.
