Biography

Alison Hart Brafman is an Associate at DeCotiis. She is a member of the firm’s Real Estate and Redevelopment practice groups. Her professional practice has focused on Residential and Commercial transactional matters with an emphasis in title insurance.  As a member of the firm, Ms. Brafman represents both the private and public sectors in transactions.

Prior to joining the firm, she worked for a Morris County law firm and handled Residential and Commercial Real Estate transactions reviewing Contracts, Leases and Corporate documents.  She also assisted in the Landlord/Tenant department, preparing complaints and other court documents.  As part of that department, Ms. Brafman also assisted the firm in Bankruptcy, Collection and Foreclosure matters.

Ms. Brafman worked as an Underwriting Counsel for a National Title Underwriter on Residential and Commercial transactions.  Prior to that, Ms. Brafman worked as a Title Officer for several Title Agencies including her own where she supervised employees for over 14 years.  Ms. Brafman has dedicated her career as a Real Estate Attorney to handling hundreds of closings including working with the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency on the Homekeeper closings.  She has made appearances in Landlord/Tenant court, Family court and Municipal court, and she has also worked as a Title Closer and Settlement Agent.  Ms. Brafman was the Treasurer of the Westfield Rotary Club, a Paul Harris Fellow, and clerked in Bankruptcy Court and Orphan’s Court which handles Estates and Trusts and Adoptions.  Ms. Brafman also taught legal research and writing during law school.

Ms. Brafman received her B.A. from Gettysburg College in 1981 and her J.D. from Thomas R. Kline School of Law of Duquesne University in 1989.
