Biography
Payton C. Rogers is an Associate at DeCotiis, FitzPatrick, Cole and Giblin, LLP, where he is a member of the Litigation, Labor and Employment, and Public Entity practice groups. He has represented public entities before state and federal courts and administrative agencies on issues including unfair practices, breach of contract, and employee disciplinary actions. Payton also has extensive experience defending government clients in New Jersey Tort Claims Act matters, Law Against Discrimination claims, and 42 U.S.C. 1983 disputes.
Prior to joining DeCotiis, Payton served as in-house counsel for several public entities, specializing in redevelopment, real estate, contracts, condemnation proceedings, and adult guardianship. His recent work includes drafting and negotiating contracts, labor agreements, ordinances, and resolutions, and attending government body meetings.
Previously, Payton practiced at a mid-sized New Jersey law firm, focusing on land use, labor and employment, and civil litigation, and served as zoning and planning board attorney for a local municipality. He clerked in the New Jersey Superior Court Family Division in Essex County.
